Barcelona have announced the extension of the contract with German coach Hansi Flick until June 2027.

“Hansi Flick has delighted Barcelona fans in his first season for many reasons: the belief he has given the team, the great comeback and the trophies,” the club said in a statement.

“The excitement the German has brought to the club in his first year in charge has made Barcelona a formidable contender once again in Europe.”

Flick led Bayern Munich to a treble in 2020, when they won the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League.

The 60-year-old was in charge of the German national team but was sack in September 2023 before replacing Xavi Hernandez as Barca manager.

“Hansi Flick is making history at FC Barcelona and we are sure he will do it again in the coming seasons,” the Spanish champion added.

The deal is good news for Barcelona and Flick as he starts to look forward to his second year in charge in Catalunya.

The coach is not a fan of long contracts, but Barca wanted to avoid him heading into the new season with just a year left on his deal and any uncertainty that may bring.
